A DISCOUNT store in Otley is thought to be the cheapest shop in Britain as it sells all of its stock for just 20 pence.
The store called 'The 20p Shop' opened on Kirkgate in Otley around five years ago, after a family of traders from Bradford decided to expand their market stall to help the local community.
It sells everything from clothes, crockery, DVD’s, food, books, vinyls, greeting cards and food and drink items all for under a pound.
Stewart Nelson, works in the shop part-time. He said: "We know how much we know everyone loves a bargain because my family has a long history of being market traders."
"It's the same concept of a pound store but we thought why not take it a step further and make it cheaper for people, so we've made it work selling stuff for just 20p."
Stewart said that some customers travel from across the country to visit the store and it is also busy with local people who love to pop-in when they walk-by.
"We sell absolutely everything inside the shop for 20p a piece. From time to time we have foods, drinks, sweets, some are best before dates, some are after. It's just a little gem really."
Stewart said his dad opened the shop because of "the way the world was going, everything was getting more expensive" and they wanted to do something to help out.
He added: "The shop is even more useful to customers now, more than ever because the cost of living is going through the roof. It really is a shining star."
Stewart explained that the shop is not there to make money, because they "don't make much at all" but they want to make sure people pay the right price for certain goods.
"Things like greeting cards should never cost £3 or £4 each no matter how nice they look, when they cost manufacturing houses pennies and a pound. We can stock up to 100,000 cards in the shop at once, so we thought why not help people out in that sense."
"It's one of those shops where there's a lot of items, but we want to help people out and we want to cater for everyone's needs at 20p. We'll never go above 20p, it always has been 20p and it always will be 20p," he said.
Stewart explained that the store gets its stock so cheaply by buying items in bulk to 'get the price right.'
