A BRADFORD man has avoided jail for possession of a pocket knife in a city supermarket.
Mohsin Ali Shahid, 26, of Grosvenor Road, appeared in court for one charge of possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.
On March 20, 2022, without lawful authority or reasonable excuse, Shahid had with him in a public place, namely Tesco Express, Manningham Lane, Bradford, an offensive weapon, namely a locking pocket knife with a blade not exceeding three inches.
He was committed to prison for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months, for the charge and ordered to pay a £128 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
The knife will be forfeited and destroyed by West Yorkshire Police.
Shaid pleaded guilty and was sentenced at Bradford & Keighley Magistrates’ Court on April 6, 2022.
