PROLIFIC fundraiser Nazim Ali, is hoping his latest and ninth Ramadan Run later this month will see him top £500,000 which he has raised for charities and organisations at home and abroad.
Nazim will be heading to Blackpool on April 23 to run his latest 10k run during Ramadan which he does while fasting.
He is covering his own costs so all the money he raises goes towards the Sindh, Pakistan New Homes Project, through Nelson-based Hope for Mankind.
His efforts are seeing new homes built in Pakistan where people are being moved from makeshift homes of mud and straw to safe and secure two-room houses.
Nazin said: "The first house has been built and is a massive transformation. These homes will provide protection from the harsh winters and summer heat as well as improving lives with a clean place to live and help to fight off death from diseases. Sindh, Pakistan is poverty stricken with abject living conditions for hundreds of thousands of people. I have recently returned from a self-funded humanitarian aid trip to Pakistan and at first hand witnessed the poverty and high inflation which inspired me to embark on this project.
"I have worked with Hope for Mankind which is an experienced registered charity for one year now and have facilitated 41 water pumps in Sindh for the poor and needy. They have impressed me with their timely and full feedback."
Each home costs £1,900 to build. Those who donate will receive feedback with videos. As well as the homes there will be a Masjid and school.
"I am hoping to raise at least £37,500 with this run so that we can build 25 new homes. currently I am on almost £16,000 with seven new houses sponsored so far," he added.
Nazim has been raising money for projects for 24 years. He supports Bradford and Airedale children's wards with gifts at Eid, Christmas and Easter and has distributed aid to people on the Turkey/Syrian border, supported Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh, Iraqi refugees in war torn Mosul, poverty stricken Malawi (Aftica), Pakistan Pre-Ramadan Deployment (March 2022) and to refugees in France and Belgium. In addition, he has raised almost £53,000 from his 2020 Ramadan 10k run and project managed 116 house transformations in Malawi. He raised £78,751 from his 2021 Ramadan 10K run to build 63 homes for Syrian Refugees in Northern Syria.
