A MALE pedestrian has suffered very serious injuries after a crash on a busy commuter road.
West Yorkshire Police was called to reports of a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on Bradford Road (A647), in the Pudsey area, at 2.26pm this afternoon.
A number of Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) vehicles also rushed to the scene, after being called to the incident just before police.
A spokesperson for police said the pedestrian - a man - sustained very serious injuries in the crash.
Police have closed Bradford Road in both directions between Woodhall Road and Leeds Ring Road (A6120) at Dawsons Corner, while investigation works continue.
A black BMW vehicle within the police cordon was badly damaged.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area.
Congestion was building as traffic diverts earlier this afternoon and the closure was adding 15 extra minutes onto normal journey times.
There are still delays now and the average speed of cars on this route is 5mph currently.
