A BRADFORD estate agency will embark on a year of fundraising challenges in aid of the region’s leading children’s and young people’s hospice.
Linley & Simpson - which has branches in Ilkley and Bingley, as well as in Skipton, Pudsey and Horsforth - is marking its 25th anniversary by aiming to raise £25,000 for Martin House.
Two staff members will abseil 50ft down the Cow and Calf rocks at Ilkley Moor.
On 18 June, daredevil duo Leah Nanji, acquisitions project manager, and Jacqueline Kilpatrick, head of acquisitions, will take the plunge.
The following week, 40 colleagues will take on the Total Warrior challenge at Bramham Park, near Wetherby, aiming to raise a total of £4,000.
Since the agency launched its charity partnership with Martin House Children’s Hospice six years ago, it has raised over £100,000.
Emily Wilkinson, Wetherby Branch Manager at Linley & Simpson, who also heads the company’s fundraising activities, said: “The work of Martin House has touched the lives of our people in many ways, and we are pleased to be able to give back.
“With great team spirit, our people are determined to meet – and beat – this year’s fund-raising target and they have come up with no shortage of home-grown ideas to do it. There is something for everyone to get involved in.”
Martin House supports families across West, North and East Yorkshire, by providing support and palliative care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
It costs Martin House nearly £9m each year to provide this vital care which has been severely affected by Covid, and it relies heavily on donations.
Every year it cares for more than 420 children and their families, as well as around 150 bereaved families, at its hospice, in hospitals and in the community.
As part of its ‘25 in 25’ challenge, Linley & Simpson is also collecting textiles, toys, book and bric-a-brac across its branch for Martin House.
People can drop items into any of its high street branches before 13 May.
In West Yorkshire, they can be found at Bingley, Chapel Allerton, Headingley, Holmfirth, Horsforth, Ilkley, Leeds city centre, Pudsey, Roundhay, Wakefield, and York.
Donations can also be made to the branches of its sister company, Dale Eddison, in Ilkley, Otley and Skipton.
The agency is also doubling up its support for Martin House as part of Children’s Hospice Week.
