A windfall sum from the sale of Leeds Bradford International Airport looks set to be split between Ilkley's King's Hall, a youth club and improvements to Christmas lights.

Ilkley's three Bradford district ward councillors, Anne Hawkesworth, Martin Smith and Colin Powell, have made plans for the £100,000 which is headed for the ward from the sale of the airport.

The cash from the Yeadon airport's sale was split between the five West Yorkshire local authorities who owned it. Bradford Metropolitan District Council and Leeds City Council each owned a share of the airport.

Each Bradford Council ward has been allocated £100,000 to spend on facilities for the benefit of the community, and ward councillors in each area are in talks about how to allocate cash to projects.

Councillor Hawkesworth said she and her two colleagues in Ilkley had agreed on a spending plan. It is expected to have to go before the council's Keighley Area Panel before it can be confirmed.

Coun Hawkesworth said the three councillors had agreed the money should go to the ongoing renovation of the Bradford Council-owned King's Hall theatre on Station Road, The Warehouse youth club on Little Lane, and towards power points in the town which can be used to plug in' Christmas lights in future.

They plan to give £50,000 to the King's Hall, £35,000 to The Warehouse, and £15,000 for the power points. The money would create an outdoor games area at The Warehouse.
