BRADFORD men Abdul Satar and Amjad Akram are again raising money for charity by selling chocolate fudge cakes throughout Ramadan which runs until May 1.
This year the pair, along with friend Ruksana Hussain, are supporting the children of Yemen and money raised through the cake sales will go towards medicines and food. The cakes are being delivered throughout Bradford and as far as Oldham, Manchester and Birmingham.
The costs of delivery are being met by Abdul and Amjad and all the volunteers so all the money from the sales of the cakes go to the cause.
They are being baked freshly daily by Regal Foods Plc, in Bradford, and around 900 cakes have been delivered so far in the first week of Ramadan.
Abdul, who runs Office Furniture Yorkshire Ltd, has been helping organise cake sales during Ramadan for the past few years and has raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity including helping to support an orphanage for blind children in Pakistan. He has been supported in the organisation and delivery by Amjad, of Letz Talk phone shop, in Great Horton Road.
Recently Abdul organised a shipping container loaded with food and humanitarian aid for Yemen.
In his spare time he also runs Bradford Community Kitchen which serves hot food to the homeless and needy as well as delivery food parcels to those who are struggling to buy food for their families.
Several Bradford catering outlets support the kitchen by donating food.
Anyone wishing to order a cake can get in touch with Abdul on 07888 693196.
