TRAIN services were disrupted after a recovery truck crashed into a tree which left it hanging over a railway line at Dewsbury.

A spokesperson for the Yorkshire Ambulance Service said: "We received at 6.09pm today to Ravesthorpe Road in Dewsbury to a report of a recovery truck which was in collision with a tree.

"It was reported that the tree was then hanging over the railway line.

"The driver, who got out of the vehicle, suffered a head injury and was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary."

Northern tweeted: "Due to a road vehicle colliding with a bridge near the railway, services are being disrupted in the West Yorkshire region across various stations.

"Please check your journey ahead of travel as delays are expected."
