A PRIMARY school is planning to increase its security measures to prevent vandalism.

Frizinghall Primary School has submitted a planning application to replace fencing around the site to keep out "youths and gangs" after school hours.

A planning application by the Sailsbury Road school to Bradford Council calls for the existing 2m fence to be replac2.4 metre fence "due to security concerns."

The application says: "We are proposing to increase the current fencing at the school from 2m to 2.4m.

Keighley school's plan to fence in grounds is approved on second attempt

"This would secure the perimeter of the school which is a concern, as currently access to the school grounds is easily accessible as a result of which the school has been open to vandalism on a number of occasions as well as being an open invitation to youths and gangs hanging out on school grounds after school hours.

The application says it has spoken to CCTV operators about potentially installing security cameras on site, but say these requests were declined "due to the premises not being secure and easily accessible."

A decision on the application is expected in June.
