Police are appealing for information after a man was sprayed with CS gas when he answered the door of his home.
The middle-aged man and his wife were in their house in Burnside Road, Shelf, at 11.30pm when there was a knock at the door. After opening the door, gas was sprayed directly into the man's face.
The man, who suffered burns to his face and cuts and bruises to his arms grabbed his attacker. However, the man with the spray, who is described as in his 50s or 60s with long grey hair, ran off.
Detective Inspector Tony Nicholson, of Halifax Police, said the police particularly wanted to hear from anyone who works with elderly people in the area, especially with people with mental disabilities. Anyone who can give any information about the attack, which happened on Tuesday, January 22, should call Det Insp Nicholson (01422) 337 059 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
