Members of a Bradford church are mourning the death of their world leader.

President Gordon B. Hinckley, who led The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, died at his home in Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, aged 97.

He was the 15th president in the 178-year history of the church.

Tributes have been paid from the church's three Bradford congregations.

Church leader Bishop Brian Haywood, of the Dudley Hill ward, said: "He was a great leader, a man of integrity and a great sense of humour - he really related to people."

Bishop John Elvidge, of the Bradford 1st Ward, met Mr Hinckley several times and described him as "a very humble and straightforward man who would be sorely missed."
