Breaking a mirror might bring seven years' bad luck, but if you look on the bright side then at least you can put the pieces to a practical use instead of throwing them away.
In the garden, reflections from them can brighten up the darkest corner, or you could use the pieces in a mosaic. Obviously though, be careful of any sharp edges.
