BRADFORDIANS have reacted angrily after a bus service was suspended due to vandalism.

Telegraph & Argus readers responded with frustration when First announced last night that their 645 bus will not be running through Ravenscliffe estate.

People were sad to see those, who use the service regularly, denied because of the actions of a few yobs.

Although the majority did agree that intervention needed to take place to protect the safety of passengers and drivers.

Mohammad Yaqoob said: "My sympathy is with those peoples who have disabilities, mothers with toddlers, and frail older people who haven't done anything wrong to deserve the withdrawal of this service."

"What about the pensioners needing transport?" added Patrick Black.

Mary Bartley said: "Totally agree with First. I think they should be doing it on some other estates as well after all safety comes first."

Fiona Feltrup said: "What about the elderly that rely on this service?"

"Wow now that’s sad news for the older people, who cannot walk far," Anna Benedett said.

Tony Sales said: "Not fair at all people need the service every day."

"It's the driver I feel sorry for," Dave Kennedy added.

Others questioned if the police could be doing more to tackle the situation.

Kirk Macrae said: “Maybe if the police actually pulled together and organised an actual operation ...it would make a difference ..but no ....scrotes 1...the system 0.”

And Paul Summerfield added: “Fill them with coppers like they did on trains a few years ago when single brain cell numpties were throwing bricks.”

But Craig Sheffield said: “Laws need changing so police can actually deal with them instead of having their hands tied.”

Kevin Sweeney offered a slightly different take, saying this behaviour is not just centric to the city.

He added: "It's not just Bradford that this occurs, it is all over the UK and is a sad reflection of society.

"In my area, a few years ago, the bus service was subject to similar. I was a passenger when out of nowhere teenagers appeared and started throwing stones. I ducked down after a brick smashed the window."
