A DRIVER was taken to hospital after a major crash on a busy road this morning.

Bradford Road, Brighouse, was closed for around four hours while the scene was cleared.

Debris was strewn across the road and the wreckage of the car was at the side of the road.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "Police were called to Bradford Road, Brighouse at about 8.11am this morning to a report a Vauxhall car had collided with other vehicles and then a wall and lamppost at the location.

"The male driver of the Vauxhall was freed from his vehicle and taken to hospital for treatment to non-life threatening injuries.

"A road closure was put in place at the location and on Bonegate Road while the car was recovered and the road was made safe."

The road, the main route between Brighouse and Bradford, has now re-opened and earlier traffic delays are now easing.
