A FUNDRAISING event to raise money for Ukraine is taking place in Bradford this weekend.
A tombola, raffle and arts and crafts and a children's Easter bonnet competition will be held at Bradford Ukrainian Club on Legrams Lane, Bradford to raise money for The Ukrainian emergency appeal.
The event will take place on Sunday 3 April from 1 pm and will be run by Bradford Ukrainian Women's Association which meets at the club. There will be a £2 entry fee that will be donated to charity.
Daria Macina, a member of The Ukrainian Community Centre said: "It's just awful what Ukrainians are going through at the moment. It makes me quite emotional just speaking about it now. We just want to do all that we can to help out. Usually, we do these fundraisers to raise money for the club, but this year we are donating it all to Ukraine."
Maria Danylczuk, the headteacher at the Ukrainian school added: "What you see on tv is heartbreaking, I can't believe what is happening in this day and age, I thought we were a civilised society. I get so upset thinking about it. We want to do all we can to help."
The club has also been collecting donations to send over to refugees in Poland.
