FIREFIGHTERS helped rescue a horse which had become stuck after sinking into mud.
Crews from Keighley and Skipton fire stations, plus a technical rescue team from Cleckheaton, used lifting gear in a two-hour operation to free the animal.
A vet was also in attendance.
The incident happened this afternoon at an equestrian centre and livery in Buck Stone Lane, Sutton-in-Craven.
Crew commander Mike Yewdall, of Keighley fire station, said: "The horse had become submerged up to its flanks in mud and water in a field and couldn't free itself.
"Using a combination of manpower and lifting gear, we managed to help it to safety.
"It was a team effort, with the owner and the vet.
"The horse was very cold but otherwise seemed OK despite its ordeal."
