ARMED police swooped on a Bradford street in the early hours of the morning.

West Yorkshire Police said the raid, in Clayton, was part of a "pre-planned" operation and a man was arrested.

Police vehicles remain at the scene this morning.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesperson said: "At 2.46am today, armed police carried out a pre-planned operation at an address in Ramsden Place, Clayton.

"A man was arrested and taken into custody.

"A scene remains in place and enquiries are ongoing."

One nearby resident said they were woken up at around 3am this morning to the sound of armed officers shouting that they had a neighbouring house surrounded.

“My partner looked through the window to see what was going on, and she was told to go back inside,” he said.

“There were a number of police officers with assault rifles – and around seven officers in total that we could see.

“A man came out of the house they had surrounded, but they were still shouting, so I think they were expecting more than one person to be inside.”

He added that he’d been shocked to see the raid taking place right outside his window.
