THE UNIVERSITY of Bradford’s School of Law has been shortlisted for an award at the Educate North Awards 2022.

Competing in the Social Mobility Award – University Sector category, the shortlisting recognises the initiatives the school has implemented, in partnership with law firms and other third sector organisations, to equip students with the practical knowledge and skills they need to compete effectively in the legal industry.

It also recognises the contribution the school makes to the wider community, including:

  • Providing legal support services, especially to those who do not have ready access to such services.
  • Inspiring and equipping school pupils to pursue a career in law through targeted school programmes and competitions.

Professor Engobo Emeseh, Head of the School of Law, said: “Regardless of the outcome on awards day, we are proud of this recognition of the commitment and achievements of the school to empower and raise the aspirations of our students.

“The impact of these initiatives can be gleaned from external indicators such as our positive NSS outcome (top 26 in the NSS 2022), and the movement of the school up the rankings from 85 in 2017, to 44 in the Guardian rankings in 2022.

“Our staff go beyond the call of duty to give our students and our community these fantastic learning experiences. 

“It always takes a team, and I am immensely grateful for the incredible team in the School of Law, and all our colleagues across the faculty and the University.”

Educate North Awards celebrate, recognise and share best practice and excellence in the education sector in the North.

The awards will be announced at a special event on Thursday, 7 April 2022 at The Midland Hotel, Manchester.
