A BRADFORD woman has played a crucial part in sending several lorries filled with essential items to Ukrainians in need.
Magdalena Timmins, who lives in the Allerton/Wilsden area, along with the Facebook group Polish mums in Leeds, has been sending clothing, baby products and medical supplies to her birthplace of Przemysl in Poland.
The collections are being dropped off in the small border city to either be distributed across to Kyiv and Lviv or for those who have already fled the war-torn country.
After originally collecting the donations in her house, the 31-year-old was kindly allowed to use a Barwick farm before a Halifax warehouse made space available.
Magdalena said: “I reached out to my family and friends in Przemysl and asked how the situation is there with it being one of the main towns on the border. They had started to shut schools down, so they could accommodate all these people.
"I asked them if there was anything I can do and we came up with a plan to donate things from Leeds and send it over in a van. We have ended up sending five huge lorries over the last two and a half weeks instead.
"This situation has brought everyone together.”
The group’s main focus has now shifted to injured soldiers with another lorry containing medical supplies going out tomorrow.

The money donated will either go to buying vital supplies for the Ukrainian people or paying for transportation costs.
