A BRADFORD school hosted a Ukrainian Day to show their support for the war-torn country.
Last Friday, children and staff at Our Lady & St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School, off Harrogate Road, dressed in blue and yellow, and spent the day making flags, posters and cards with messages of love and support.
These will be sent along with the donation, of over £623, to the children of Ukraine.
At the end of the day, the community came together for a candlelit vigil to pray for peace.
Sarah Delany, Deputy Headteacher of the school, said: "After seeing the news reports and hearing about the suffering in Ukraine, our children, staff and families felt that they needed to help in some way.
"We are overwhelmed by the generosity of our community and hope that our donation of over £623 will provide some aid for those children in the greatest need of our help.
"We now want to spread this message far and wide, so that other people will be encouraged to do the same."
The T&A has today joined forces with other Newsquest news titles from across the UK to launch a fundraising campaign and to pledge a portion of the sale of today's newspaper to help the humanitarian effort in Ukraine.
