FOR one member of staff at Bradford Council, World Social Work Day (held on Tuesday) will definitely be a day to remember.
Rob Mitchell, Principal Social Worker, collected his MBE at Windsor Castle for his services to Health and Adult Social Care.
Rob’s career spans over 25 years and he began his career working on the frontline of social care as a healthcare assistant and then qualifying as a social worker in 1998. His most recent positions have been at a senior level as Principal Social Worker at Calderdale Council and now Bradford Council.
He has played an active and prominent role in the world of social work as he has spent time campaigning and raising the profile of social work on a local, regional and national level. In recent years Rob was named Principal Social Worker of the Year at the Social Worker of year awards.
Councillor Sarah Ferriby, Bradford Council’s Executive Member for Healthy People and Places, said: "We are absolutely delighted for Rob receiving his MBE in London which he truly deserves, recognising his commitment and dedication in making a difference in health and social care. He is an absolute inspiration and a great role model for those thinking of making a career as a social worker.”
