PAKISTAN cricket legend Shahid Afridi has visited another booming Bradford business on a visit to the city this week.
'Boom Boom' Afridi, heralded by cricket fans for his swashbuckling batting style, has been in Bradford as part of a campaign for his charity the Shahid Afridi Foundation.
The former all-rounder, who played more than 500 matches across all formats for Pakistan, visited Regal Foods alongside Pakistani actor and producer Adnan Siddiqui.
They enjoyed a full tour of the site in Girlington, met some of the team at the long-established Bradford firm, and enjoyed a cup of chai with a slice of Regal's signature cake rusk.
Faisel Ali, group sales and marketing director, said: “We have supported the Shahid Afridi Foundation for many years now so it seemed the right time to invite the cricket legend and fellow supporter and film star, Adnan Siddiqui to Bradford to visit our head office site.
"We are proud of Bradford and like to play our part in putting our town on the map."
The Shahid Afridi Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Pakistan, which aims is to improve the conditions of the underprivileged communities through improvements in education, healthcare services, access to water, sports rehabilitation and emergency relief response.
On their visit to the 20-year-old company, Mr Siddiqui said: "Regal is real and has been here for two decades and has been going up and up and I wish them all the best for two successive decade."
Shahid Afridi added: "Regal is real!"
Since its founding in 2001, Regal has grown into one of Bradford's most successful food brands, supplying major supermarkets with thousands of products as well as exporting items to countries across the world.
