A REPORT to Prevent Future Deaths has been officially submitted following an inquest into the tragic death of a young Bradford City Academy player.
An inquest found 13-year-old Tomi Solomon drowned after jumping from a bridge over the River Calder at Brighouse, as temperatures soared in June last year.
The inquest, which recorded a conclusion of misadventure, heard the bridge was a popular spot for young people to gather on warm days, but Senior Coroner Martin Fleming raised concern over a lack of warning signs.
He has now written to Calderdale Council, The Canal and River Trust and Tennant Investments and said in the report: "Given the location's popularity with many teenagers in the area, I would ask you to consider the appropriateness of the existing safety measures on the bridge and surrounding area and whether you consider actions are necessary to deter such activities in order to prevent further occurrences and like tragedies."
Those who Mr Fleming has written to are required to respond within 56 days of the report, though this could be extended.
