POLICE will be looking to review CCTV footage and then ban individuals causing trouble at a Bradford swimming pool.
Following repeat incidents of anti-social behaviour, Bradford Council recently made the decision to temporarily suspend Swim For All sessions at Eccleshill Swimming Pool.
A spokesperson from the Bradford East Neighbourhood Policing Team said today: "We have been made aware of the ongoing issues at Eccleshill Swimming Baths which have caused them to cancel Swim For All sessions and replaced these with family swim sessions.
"We are currently working alongside staff at Eccleshill Swimming Baths and reviewing CCTV to identify the individuals who will then be dealt with positively and banned from all Bradford Council leisure facilities."
This comes in the wake of an Eccleshill councillor's concerns about the pool which she would like addressed at next week's Full Council meeeting.
In a written question ahead of next week's Full Council meeting, Cllr Susan Knox (Lib Dem, Eccleshill) has asked: "Can the Portfolio Holder please explain what steps the Council is taken to ensure that Swim For All sessions are fully restored as soon as possible to ensure that no child is excluded from access to swimming session at Eccleshill Pool.
"Furthermore, what work is being done with West Yorkshire Police to ensure those individuals who are causing problems at the pool are both deterred and where necessary punished for their behaviour?"
It was announced last month that the pool, on Harrogate Road, was temporarily suspending the Swim For All sessions.
A spokesperson said at the time: “Due to repeat incidents at Eccleshill, we have not been able to provide a service which meets our core principles.
"Therefore, we have taken the difficult decision to temporarily suspend the Swim For All sessions at Eccleshill Pool."
They added: “The issue of concern relates to a small group who have displayed unacceptable behaviour in the pool area which has caused disruption to those using the facilities.”
