A 12-year-old boy told a jury he cried when he witnessed a crash that killed three teenage girls.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, gave evidence to Bradford Crown Court today by video link.

Aged ten at the time of the incident, he was travelling in the back seat of a car not involved in the accident.

In the dock is Adam Anguige, 25, of White Leaf Road, Batley, who denies three charges of causing death by dangerous driving.

Ursula Alokolaro, 16, of Heckmondwike, and her friends, 15-year-old Gemma Cost, of Batley, and 16-year-old Natalie Donlan, of Dewsbury, all died when the Ford Fiesta they were in crashed into a lorry.

Another jury has already decided that Fiesta driver James Houston, 27, severely injured in the collision, caused the deaths of his three back-seat passengers.

The jury has heard that before the accident in September 2006 Anguige, who was driving a Vauxhall Nova, was involved in competitive driving with Houston along Wakefield Road, Huddersfield.

Prosecutor Andrew Dallas said Houston, of Croft Cottage Lane, Huddersfield, was trying to overtake Anguige's Nova and a Range Rover when he crashed into the oncoming lorry.

The boy said he saw a silver car lose control and a girl flung out of it. "The car started to lose control and the girl fell out. It hit a truck and I was crying," he said.

The trial continues.
