An 18-year-old driver told magistrates he had been caught out by a change in the speed limit when he was caught travelling at 64mph on a country road.
James Sutcliffe, of Hill Crest Road, Denholme, pleaded guilty to exceeding the 30mph speed limit in Bingley Road, Cullingworth, when he appeared at Bingley Magistrates' Court today.
He was banned from driving for 28 days and fined £200.
Prosecutor Louise Azmi said Sutcliffe was caught breaking the speed limit by a police officer using a speed radar device.
In mitigation, Sutcliffe said the stretch he was driving on had previously been 60mph but it had been changed to 30mph a few days before he was caught and he had been unaware of the change.
