VARIOUS works have been completed in the last four weeks at the Greengates junction, including work around the war memorial.
A spokesperson from Howard Civil Engineering said: "We have completed work to rebuild the wall on Harrogate Road outside Optegra Eye Hospital and install the boundary fencing around Greengates Primary Academy.
"The majority of the new footpath is installed, and we have diverted all the services from the old footpath alongside the required drainage and electrical works. Further down Harrogate Road, we have also completed the construction of one of the church laybys and installed pedestrian crossing points.
"Elsewhere around the junction, we have installed new bus stop shelters near Taco Bell and Optegra Eye Hospital on Harrogate Road, and on the corner of Haigh Hall Road on New Line.
"Further along Harrogate Road, outside Aldo's Italian, we have completed the repositioning of kerbs and footpaths, and work is underway to continue paving the footpath around the war memorial.
"Reconstruction of the walls around the war memorial and on New Line outside QRI is complete.
"We are also looking forward to opening the footpath outside Aldo's Italian, the war memorial and QRI. Once they are complete the war memorial gate and railings will also be reinstalled."
"We are looking forward to commencing tarmacking operations to the stretch of road on Harrogate Road leading from Greengates Primary Academy to Optegra Eye Hospital on Monday, February 28. These works will complete the road widening operations on this side of Harrogate Road until the major final surfacing.
"After completion of these works, we will establish our works on the opposite side of the road, outside Greengates church and leading up to the junction. Here, we will continue road widening operations. Please note traffic management measures will be switched over from its current layout on this stretch of Harrogate Road to facilitate these works. "
