FLOODING at Apperley Bridge caused by Storm Franklin has been compared to the 2015 flooding on Boxing Day.
Apperley Bridge resident Jennifer Luxford said: "The flooding was really, really bad. Yesterday was the worst of it.
"They closed Apperley Road and the fire crews were working there.
"The flooding was as bad in 2015, but it's just gone down more quickly this time.
"And the flooding in 2015 was the worst I've ever seen."
Mrs Luxford, who was out walking her dog Charlie this morning, was surveying all the debris left behind on the playing fields at Woodhouse Grove School.
"The whole of the playing fields and the car park were a lake but it has receded now. The field next to the Stansfield Arms is also under water.
"It's natural that it floods but it's annoying for the footballers."
Mrs Luxford, who lives at Brookhouse Gardens, also said gardens at some homes near the river had flooded.
