A 44-Year-old Bradford man has been jailed for six years for sexual offending against a vulnerable underage teenage girl.
Vincent Sherman was convicted by a jury at Bradford Crown Court yesterday of four offences.
They included three charges of sexual activity with a child and a single count of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity.
Today, he was brought back to the court from the prison where he was held on remand to be sentenced.
The trial judge, Recorder Tom Little QC, heard from Sherman’s barrister, Robin Frieze, that he had no previous convictions for sexual offences.
He said Sherman would find the sentence more onerous because of the Covid lockdown restrictions still prevailing in the prisons.
Recorder Little told Sherman they were extremely serious offences and he had no doubt that his intention was to have sex with the girl.
He pointed to the significant disparity in age and the fact that the child had to give evidence in court during the trial.
Sherman must sign on the sex offender register for life and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order was made without limit of time.
