A POPULAR restaurant has had to submit a retrospective planning application after installing a new sign without proper permission.
Turkuaz Restaurant, in Harrogate Road, Rawdon, has submitted the plans for its externally illuminated fascia signage.
The new sign is lit up by overhead lamps, but it was installed before the restaurant had been granted permission to do so by Leeds City Council.
In the plans, the new sign is described as "white stand off lettering with trough light above", replacing the old backlit sign.
It also states that in pre-application advice given, "in Conservation Areas box signage is not normally permitted, a preference would be individual letters which are externally illuminated". The restaurant is situated in the Rawdon Littlemoor Conservation Area.
It's hoped a decision will be reached on the plans - which were submitted at the beginning of February - by the end of March.
The Turkuaz is a popular Turkish cuisine restaurant in the heart of the village of Rawdon, one of the anchor businesses of its burgeoning high street.
