A MARRIED couple has achieved their life-long dream of opening an inclusive fitness studio in Bradford city centre.
Husband and wife, Sophie and James Robinson have long been interested in fitness and have held boot camps across West Yorkshire before opening their studio.
Pinnacle Performance Fitness Studio which is located on the first floor of City Exchange is like no regular gym. With Sophie’s background, working with students who have physical or hidden disabilities she has pushed to create an inclusive gym.
Sophie said: “We wanted a space where people felt safe and included because we’ve noticed over the years that some people struggle with gyms and don’t necessarily fit into mainstream gyms.
“We want to help people be their best, but we want to be inclusive and appeal to everyone.”
Pinnacle Performance Fitness Studio hosts a packed timetable with a variety of sessions such as Clubbercise, Boot Camp, Step Fit and Weight Sessions, all designed to help people at different levels.
Sophie added: “There are so many barriers to coming to the gym and we want to eliminate as many as possible.
“We have a children’s play area set up so that parents can leave their children whilst they exercise, and they know they’ll be looked after.
James and Sophie met at a weight-loss programme, and fitness has become something they are both extremely passionate about.
James had a career change from working in education to becoming a full-time personal trainer and has worked in some of the biggest gyms in the UK; he found that people’s potential was being overlooked and they weren’t getting the most out of the gym and decided opening his own fitness studio was the way forward.
Sophie said: “There’s added pressure to going to the gym, you feel uncomfortable and sometimes feel you have to look a certain way, but we want an inclusive environment without all the extra fuss.”
Pinnacle Performance offer both digital and in-studio fitness classes to help people achieve their fitness goals.
The studio has heart rate wearable technology data allowing instructors to push you to your best and meet your goals.
Because Pinnacle Performance is an inclusive gym it has specialist cycling equipment for specialist classes, allowing more people to take up the sport.
Sophie said: “Sometimes people are scared they won’t know what to do or how they should do some exercises, but here we’re happy to offer support and make everyone feel confident.”
