A HOST of former Bradford City stars are set to lace up their boots again next month to take part in a charity game in aid of a true Bantams legend.
The charity game, between the City Veterans team and a Vintage Clarets team from Burnley, is being held on Sunday, March 6, at Silsden AFC.
The game is raising money for Pathways, the chosen charity of former City hero Allan Gilliver who is going through an ongoing battle with dementia.
Former player and manager Terry Dolan, who made almost 200 appearances for the Bantams, will be returning to action.
Other stars retaking to the field include Keighley-born Lee Duxbury (272 appearances), Brazilian striker Edinho (60 apps), and cult hero striker Dean Windass (216 apps, 75 goals).
Kick off at Silsden will take place at 2pm, with a bar open and food also available, music and games, a big screen and various raffle prizes.
Admission is £5 for adults and £2 for children, with proceeds going towards Pathways Through Dementia.
Sharing the match information on Facebook, Allan’s wife Chris Gilliver said: “I know Gilly would be overwhelmed at the thought of all these people giving up their time to put this event together for him and Pathways.
“We are both so very grateful. Our dementia group has been a lifeline for us both, even before Covid struck.
“We’ve made so many new friends amongst its members and the volunteers who run it. They’ve provided invaluable advice and support to us and many more.”
