The Crimestoppers charity is distributing business cards to 140,000 school children across West Yorkshire in an attempt to reduce knife-crime.
The new initiative is designed to identify individuals in the community who carry knives or weapons.
By contacting Crimestoppers anonymously and reporting people who carry weapons, the public can provide police with vital information to allow them to take action against dangerous people.
The campaign is intended to raise awareness of knife culture and allow children to discuss the problem at school and with parents.
Police say people who carry knives for protection often end up becoming the victims of knife crime, typically by having the knife taken from them and it then being used against them.
DC Kevin Mosley, of Regional Crimestoppers, said: "If we can reduce the number of knives and the number of people who think it's normal to carry knives, we may save a life as the card states.
"The message is clear by giving youths another option, other than ringing the police; we may prevent a serious injury or death. Do not think about making the call just do it call : 0880 555 111, lines are open 24/7."
