A PROLIFIC burglar, who dubbed himself as the "B-Town Grafter" and "MC McEwan", has been jailed after boasting about his crimes online.
Dylan McEwan, 19, from Seacroft was involved in burglaries at two homes in Pudsey and Bramley in the early hours of December 20 last year and was eventually caught in Bradford.
Four cars and Christmas presents were stolen in the burglaries, just four sleeps before the big day itself.
Police pursued two of the stolen cars into the Bradford area.
McEwan, and two youth accomplices - who cannot be named as they are under 18 - then abandoned the vehicles before running from police.
The officers managed to catch them though and all three were arrested.
Officers from the Leeds District Crime Team investigated the offences and the trio were charged.
They all pleaded guilty at court this week.
McEwan, of Barncroft Drive, Seacroft, was sentenced to three years in prison.
The two youths were each given community rehabilitation orders.
Officers came across a post on McEwan's social media from October last year, during their investigation.
It contained a brief video clip of the 19-year-old driving a car, followed by him rapping about his criminal activities.
The footage was submitted to the court as part of the case file.
The video begins with the camera pointing at the passenger in the car, before it is switched to focus on McEwan in the driver's seat.
The camera shakes all over, moving from showing an individual in the back middle seat of the vehicle, before swinging to the dashboard and then settling back on McEwan.
A caption, "Big whips", with two car emojis, features over the top of the full clip, as well as music blaring from the vehicle's sound system.
Styling himself "MC McEwan" and then the "B-Town grafter", the young criminal talks about sneaking into people's gardens and then being paid for their "brand-new" cars.
MC McEwan then describes the "graft life" as being hard and brags about spending half his time "sitting behind bars".
The full lyrics are: "Oh charva, this is the real MC McEwan mush.
"Yo, yo, listen.
"I'm the B-Town grafter, I creep through your yard.
"Getting paid out for the brand-new cars.
"But I can't lie, graft life's hard.
"Spend half your time, sitting behind bars."
Detective Inspector Vicky Vessey, of Leeds District Crime Team, said: “McEwan is a prolific burglar whose offending has brought misery to his victims who have had to suffer the indignity of having their homes invaded and their property stolen.
“The two burglaries he has been convicted of took place just days before Christmas when this type of crime is always more acutely felt by those who experience it.
“The utter disdain he has for the people he targets to steal from is abundantly clear from the lyrics in his social media post.”
