A MAN tackled a house blaze on his own after an unattended pan erupted into flames.
West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service (WYFRS) was called to a property off Bradford Road, in the Birkenshaw area, at 6.36pm yesterday.
It was near to the Co-op shop there.
Crews from Bradford and Cleckheaton Fire Stations rushed to the scene.
But when they arrived the occupant of the house, a male, had already put out the flames using a fire extinguisher.
The firefighters used a hose reel and breathing apparatus to put out the remaining hot spots.
It was found that the fire was started by an unattended pan, according to a WYFRS spokesperson.
Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) also attended.
The man had suffered smoke inhalation and was being treated by YAS staff when fire crews left the scene.
