"Last year the scheme won the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation Best Large Highways and Transport Project Award, so we hope that we have a good chance of winning this one.

"We’ve had fantastic feedback locally and I’d like to thank our council officers for all their hard work delivering this important scheme."

Tony Kilbane – Howard Civil Engineering contracts manager, who oversaw the project – said: "I am thrilled to hear that it has been shortlisted for yet another award.

"Our entire team worked very hard to ensure that stakeholders’ needs were met at every turn and this nomination is something that we are all very proud of."
