Today, we meet a horticulture apprentice with ambitions of becoming self-employed.

Introduction about yourself:
I am an enthusiastic worker who enjoys learning about the industry I work in. I like to learn new skills to help further develop my career.
What is your apprenticeship in and why did you choose this sector?
Horticulture - I chose it to further my career and knowledge in this industry.
What does your average working week look like?
A variety of work ranging from grass cutting, hedge cutting, weeding and using pesticides.
Why did you opt to do an apprenticeship rather than A Levels or a BTEC ?
I felt like an apprenticeship would be more beneficial to me rather than A levels or a BTEC course.
What is the most rewarding thing about your apprenticeship?
Learning about new methods of doing things within my industry and developing my skills.
If one of your friends was thinking about doing an apprenticeship what advice would you give them?
Just do it. There are more benefits from doing an apprenticeship than not doing it!
Once you are qualified what are you plans for your future career?
I plan to go self employed.
