ONE of Bradford's largest girls' schools, where students make "strong progress" in their journey there, is celebrating its second Good rating in a row.
Belle Vue Girls’ Academy, in Heaton, received the grade from Ofsted in its latest inspection.
The education watchdog visited the all girls secondary school - which caters for just over 1,000 pupils - in December last year, across a two day period.
The school was last visited for a full inspection by Ofsted in July 2012, when it was also rated as Good.
Belle Vue has one of the top progress scores (a figure given for how much progress a child makes between the end of primary school and the end of secondary school) in Bradford and is in the top 10 per cent nationally.
This is something Ofsted inspectors picked out, commenting on the school's examination success and the “strong progress made by the end of Key Stage 4”.
The report published today stated: “Staff have high expectations of what pupils can achieve.
"Leaders have a clear vision for the curriculum that has been developed to enable pupils to succeed academically."
Inspectors also found the school provides ample opportunity for pupils to develop themselves, such as taking on leadership roles, and it has a strong safeguarding culture.
The report states: "On inspection, two of the school’s student anti-bullying ambassadors talked with great passion about their work making sure pupils did not feel lonely or isolated."
It added: "Students have faith that adults will help them solve any problems or concerns they may have.
"No stone is left unturned to keep pupils safe”.
Stephen Mulligan, Headteacher, said: “We are thrilled for our pupils, staff and our whole school community.
"This judgement is testament to the dedication and passion of all staff and the fantastic attitudes of our students.
“We now look forward to the next exciting stage on our journey to ensure that we provide an exceptional quality of education for all."
Belle Vue became part of the Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust (BDAT) in 2012, when the trust itself was set-up.
BDAT - which looks after 17 schools in total - was created to support and sponsor Church of England and non-Church of England Academies in Bradford on behalf of the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales.
Carol Dewhurst OBE, Chief Executive Officer at Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust, said: “I am proud to see the values and drive of Belle Vue Girls’ Academy shining strongly through this inspection report describing a happy, caring and ambitious school.
"The inspection team summed it up perfectly stating that there is 'no complacency' at Belle Vue Girls, as togethers pupils and their teachers work together well to make sure every student gets the most out of their time at the Academy.
"The report is a well-deserved, credit to the hard work of the staff and students at the Academy.”.
