A BRADFORD gift shop is showcasing the best of the district after reopening following an expansion.
The Old Wooden Box, in Duke Street, is back in business after work to increase the shop space by almost 50 per cent has been completed.
Items including jewellery, handmade ornaments and candles, made by independent traders, are stocked in the shop.
The site also stocks and makes pronoun and flag badges for people to request and made on the spot in the store.
The badges they already stock include He They and Mx. Some of the mugs on sale also reflect this including 'Sausage Rolls, not gender roles' and 'Non Beenary' which features a bumble bee.
Owner Laura Wigglesworth, who uses the pronoun they/them, originally opened the shop in Duke Street in October 2020. They works with traders, artists and craftmakers from across the Bradford district.
They added one of the best parts of the job of running the shop is meeting the customers who come in, as well as making pronoun badges for people.
It is located above the Underground music venue in Bradford city centre. The shop held its grand reopening event on Saturday, January 29.
They said: "I'm excited that the shop has reopened.
"There is always so much going on in town.
"The majority of our sellers are local businesses.
"It is amazing to be back open. It feels like a safe space for people. We have Pride and Trans rights items.
"A lot of the traders we use are based in Bradford. It's kind of like everyone knows the area so well.
"I'm looking for new sellers to offer us different products to those we have already got. The shop offers a real community feel."
The Old Wooden Box also sells music from district artists under its 'Bradfud Playlist' line of items. Artists from the Bradford district have also been encouraged to sell their music.
The shop will also be holding an Anti-Valentine's Fair on Saturday, February 12, from 10am. It will include craft stalls, Valentine's piñata, merchandise stands and themed drinks.
Its list of sellers include Cathy Oakley Calvert, Footprints on Forever and Head Geek. One of the independent traders featured is Bimble, who produce cruelty free bath, body and self care products including bath bombs and 'Bedtime Snorey', a shea butter balm for people to use.
The Old Wooden Box is open between 10am and 5.30pm on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
