A POPULAR village pub has announced it will close its doors "for the foreseeable future" as staff shortages and increased operating costs take their toll.

The Craven Heifer in Addingham will close the doors of its pub and restaurant on February 14, 2022. Its bed and breakfast business will continue.

It is just last year that award-winning chef Matt Broadley took over the kitchen at The Craven Heifer in Addingham.

Matt, head chef and owner at Broadley’s Bistro in Ilkley brought his own take on home-made, traditional ‘pub grub’ to the popular village pub.

However posting on Facebook this week the owners said: "We are sorry to announce that Broadley’s at The Craven Heifer will close its doors on 14th February 2022.

"Despite considerable local support, staff shortages, continuing uncertainty regarding covid and significantly increased operating costs have all taken their toll on the viability of the business.

"Beyond 14th February and for the foreseeable future, the pub and restaurant at the Craven Heifer will be closed, although the bed and breakfast business will continue as we have a substantial number of bookings already made for this year.

"At this stage, it is difficult to foresee how reopening of the pub and restaurant might be viable. We will post updates as soon as we have any further information, but in the meantime we would like to thank everyone for their support and good wishes."
