A BUILDING used as a city centre gym for two decades could be converted into flats.
Proposals to turn the upper four storeys of 1-11 Westgate into apartments have been submitted to Bradford Council.
The space, above Subway and opposite the Kirkgate Shopping Centre, has previously been used as a gym, but is currently vacant.
The plan, submitted by David Howells, would see the upper floors converted into seven two bed flats and 13 one bed flats.
Extra shop unit planned for city centre building development
It asks if a full planning application is needed or if the work can be carried out using "prior approval" - current national planning law allows residential conversion of empty city centre space without the need for full planning permission in many circumstances.
The site lies in the City Centre Conservation Area.
A decision on the plan is expected next month.
