A "FIT felon" whose mugshot sent hundreds of people into a lusty frenzy on a viral Facebook post has been arrested by police.

An appeal to find Jonathan Cahill, 37, from Wakefield, was posted last week by West Yorkshire Police.

He had breached the terms of his release after leaving prison last September and had been recalled to jail, and this morning West Yorkshire Police confirmed he has now been arrested and is in custody.

The convicted burglar's mugshot proved a surprise sensation with some people on social media, attracting cringeworthy comments from a number of users who had fallen for his apparent "bad boy" appearance.

One person said: “What's his crime breaking hearts or houses,”, to which another replied: “currently breaking my heart but I’m hoping he breaks into my house too.”

Some people also were dumbfounded at why people found him attractive.

A West Yorkshire Police statement this morning said: "An appeal was previously circulated in relation to Jonathan Cahill, 37, who was wanted on recall to prison.

"He has now been arrested and is in custody."
