ATTENDING work while waiting for a Covid test and failing to correctly deal with a mental health incident were among reasons why 'Reflective Practice Reviews' were conducted by West Yorkshire Police.
According to data released through a Freedom of Information (FOI) request, a total of 55 have been carried out since they were introduced in 2020.
An officer can be referred for such a review for underperformance or conduct not amounting to misconduct or gross misconduct.
The FOI reveals 10 randomly selected cases which gave rise to a review: use of force on a male who refused to leave an area when asked; officer failing to deal with seized property correctly; officers attitude when dealing with a rape victim; officers failed to deal with an incident of domestic abuse correctly; officer checking one record when there was no policing purpose; officers failed to deal with an incident of domestic abuse correctly; officers fail to deal correctly with car keys at an incident causing the vehicle to be stolen; officers fail to correctly deal with a mental health incident; officers making inappropriate comments towards a male with mental health issues and officer attended work whilst waiting for a Covid test result
