A HUGE power cut left more than 1,000 homes and buildings without electricity today.
Northern Powergrid revealed that 1,150 premises in the BD4 and Birstall areas were hit by an unexpected outage.
The power cut hit at 8.41am today, when the utility firm said 990 properties were being affected.
But this was increased to 1,150 later in the morning.
In BD4, properties off Cutler Heights Lane were reported to have been impacted.
In Birstall, buildings and homes off Gelderd Road (A62), Dark Lane, Nab Lane, Nova Lane, Leyland Road, Bradford Road (A652), Huddersfield Road (A62), Mill Street, Bridge Street, Smithies Moor Lane, Smithies Lane, Newley Avenue, John Street, Union Street, School Street, Church Road, The Crossings, Brookroyd Lane, Norwood Drive, Yard Four, Brownhill Close, Brownhill Garth, Nelson Street, High Street, Low Lane, Brownhill Road, Bramble Walk, Leeds Road, Upper Batley Lane, Sovereign Close, Sunnymount Terrace, Roebuck Street, Copley Hill, Coronation Terrace, South View and Alexandra Avenue were reported to have been impacted.
The outage also looked to have hit Bagshaw Museum and Wilton Park, off Woodlands Road, according to Northern Powergrid.
Power was expected to be restored by 10.15am, but it took until 12.15pm in the end - more than three hours after the initial power cut.
It was caused by unexpected problems with the electricity cables, or equipment, that serve the area.
The Northern Powergrid website stated in the morning: "Our team are working hard to restore your power as quickly as possible."
