A WANTED appeal for a convicted burglar has been a surprise social media sensation, with people going wild for his appearance.
West Yorkshire Police put out an appeal yesterday for information to find Jonathan Cahill, 37, who has breached the terms of his release after leaving prison last September and has now been recalled to jail.
He’s described as six foot tall and of medium build, and is thought to be residing in Wakefield, and police have asked for help from the public while they continue enquiries to locate him.
When his appeal – and photo – was shared on the police’s Facebook page yesterday, it quickly went viral, attracting thousands of comments and shares.
A lot of the comments attracted hundreds of reactions from other users who found them hilarious. The bulk of the comments came from female users – and some men too – who found themselves falling in love with the criminal’s looks.
June Brown asked: “What's his crime breaking hearts or houses,”, to which Amber Louise replied: “currently breaking my heart but I’m hoping he breaks into my house too.”
Vickey Christensen said: “Christ almighty he can hide under my bed...”.
Danielle Marie said: “If you need somewhere to send him for the next 10-15 years, I'll gladly take him. He will be severely punished of course too…”
Gareth Goldthorpe hilariously added: “This is why women always end up with the wrong uns. In fairness though, I'm straight and even I would.”
A couple of the more risqué commenters included Lewis Macleod who said: “The only thing he's breaking in is my back doors,” and James Pettinger who added: “Daddy I’m in love with a criminal. Ride me like you stole me flower.”
Matthew Wilson-Hurst also said: “Wet floor signs going up all over Yorkshire.”
However, much to the disappointment of many of the commenters, someone who appeared to be a family member of the burglar weighed in, with Declan Cahill saying: “No Catching r kid b In a birds Ken.”
(edit) I can only assume that translated into legible English this means: "You wouldn't catch my family member in a woman's house."
Some commenters also failed to see why Cahill had set pulses racing.
Vickie Price said: “I must need to go to Specsavers because I can't see what everyone else seems to be seeing,” while Terri Wilson added: “Calm down Girls he's not all that seen better looking men in local social club 50+.”
