A 53-YEAR-OLD Bradford man is believed to be one of two men killed in a three-vehicle crash on the M1 near Nottingham.

Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that around 2.45am on Thursday two people died following a collision between two vans and a lorry.

The southbound carriageway was closed between junctions 26 and 25 for most of the day while emergency services attended.

Two men were pronounced dead at the scene, one of whom is understood to be from Bradford.

A friend has paid tribute to the Bradford man, saying: "He was a real nice guy who was a hard-working person, loyal, faithful and a good family man.

"He was a popular man who will be missed by everyone who knew him."

Sergeant Steve Waft, of Nottinghamshire Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Two men sadly lost their lives following this tragic incident and their families have been informed.

“Our thoughts are firmly with their families and friends and specially trained officers are working with them and providing support during this extremely difficult time.

“We would continue to urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any dash-cam footage to get in touch on 101, quoting incident number 34 of 20 January 2022."
