Green-fingered youngsters at St Walburga's Catholic Primary will soon see their school emblem as a flower display.

Pupils at the Shipley school who are all members of its gardening club have planted a range of bulbs which they hope will illustrate the blue, white and yellow crest which adorns their uniform, when they emerge from the ground in the spring.

Dan Copley, deputy head teacher, said: "The gardening club helps to raise awareness of the environment and how we can help to look after it.

"The club members have planted the school emblem in flowers at the front of the school. They really enjoy gardening and grow veg which is used in the school kitchen.

"Every year the club holds a Ground Force' day which sees parents come along to help members in the garden."
