CCTV RELEASED by police shows the shocking moment a suspect looks to threaten shop staff with large knife.

West Yorkshire Police has issued the images as part of its investigation into a knifepoint attempted robbery at a business in Leeds on Christmas Eve.

A male armed with a large blade entered the Cash Converters store in York Road, Killingbeck, just before 5pm on December 24 last year.

The CCTV images show a suspect brandishing a large knife, that looks to be serrated.

He is wearing what looks to be yellow, reflective work jacket and a black helmet with blue decals.

The pictures show the male at a counter with the knife and a blue bag and he then seems to lurch forward and threaten staff with the weapon.

A spokesperson for West Yorkshire Police said the suspect did threaten staff and demanded cash.

He then attempted to jump over the counter and tried to break into a jewellery cabinet.

The male left empty-handed and escaped on the back of a motorcycle, ridden by a second suspect.

Both males had their faces covered with helmets, but detectives are appealing for anyone who may recognise them from their clothing.
