Memories of one of the best-known department stores in the Bradford district will be shared this weekend.

Members of the famous Busby family, which founded Busby's department store in 1908 and ran it until its closure in the mid 1970s, will be in Bradford sharing their memories of the store.

Three grandchildren of the founder, Ernest Busby, will be at the Industrial Museum from 2pm to 4pm on Sunday.

Arthur, Gerald and Eric helped run their father's store and it is their children - Paul Busby, Pat Laycock and Amy Booth - who will be speaking at the Industrial Museum.

The Memories are Made of This' event is part of the museum's The Store with the Friendly Welcome exhibition, which brings the history of the store to life with pictures and memorabilia. The exhibition runs until Sunday, February 24.

Former staff and customers are also coming from across the country to share their memories of working or shopping at Busby's. One lady is flying in from the Isle of Man and spending time in Bradford to be at the event.

Many happy memories have already been posted on the Memories Wall at the exhibition.

Councillor Anne Hawkesworth, Bradford Council's executive member for environment and culture, said: "Busby's was an extremely popular store in Bradford and people have always had great memories of the store both as children and adults. The exhibition at the Industrial Museum has been incredibly popular with excellent feedback. It will be fascinating to hear from the Busby family and people who used to shop there."
