Rail services across West Yorkshire have been badly affected by flooding caused by yesterday's torrential rains.

Northern and Metro Rail have both cancelled services due to widespread flooding.

Northern Rail has announced the suspension of its Leeds to Skipton service, which also calls at Ilkley and Bradford Forster Square. This is due to localised flooding close to Leeds.

An alternative bus service will be provided from Leeds to Forster Square while a half hourly service is expected to operate between Bradford and Skipton.

The service between Halifax and Huddersfield has also been cancelled due to flooding at Brighouse.

Metro Rail services between Forster Square and Ilkley and Skipton will continue to operate on a half hourly basis.

The Leeds to Shipley service has been paralysed by flooding as have various services from Skipton.

The service from Leeds to Bradford Interchange is not affected by the weather but the route from Bradford Interchange to Wakefield has been cancelled.
